The collaboration between Mara and AMDL CIRCLE – the multidisciplinary studio founded by architect Michele De Lucchi – which sees them united on the research front, highlights the drive to “try the new”, find unprecedented forms through which design can promote well-being and generate evolution.

The distinctive feature is the square-section metal tubular that gives shape to the structure, in a play of folds and drapes that highlight Mara's expertise in metal processing.

The involvement of the studio in the roster of its international creatives represents, in fact, for Mara the achievement of an important objective in its design development: an opportunity for research, innovation, but also for comparison and relationship, such as to broaden the perspectives of Mara-branded design and achieve surprising results.

We invented this crazy, atrocious, unthinkable way of bending a tube because no one would have thought of bending a tube the wrong way.
It is precisely from experimenting with what we always consider to be on the wrong side of things that we can invent new things. Because conventions are the great danger at a time when everything is changing”.

This chair is born from an apparent mistake, but to make a mistake you have to be willing to make mistakes, you have to be willing to try things out, to experiment.
We at Mara have found a partner who wanted to try, to experiment and wanted to be fast. In this world that is moving faster and faster, the ability of those who design and those who create to be reactive, to quickly get in sync is really a key element for the success of a project”.

It takes heart, it takes strength to bend steel, iron. With Mara we managed to do it, to do it the wrong way. These magical folds that come naturally are also industrializable, so they can be repeated: this is the true essence of the project”.
