Historical colour: from noise to the architecture of silence
A meeting to reflect on colour as a material of architecture, capable of creating the atmospheres, the identities and the perceptions of space.
On Wednesday, September 16th, Comfort Office showroom in Milan hosted “Historical colour: from noise to the architecture of silence”, an event dedicated to architects and interior designers and conceived as an opportunity to explore and exchange ideas on the role of colour within the design process.
Colour is part of the history of architecture, yet it continues to be one of the most contemporary tools to define a space. It is surface and depth, memory and material, light and atmosphere.
From this point of view comes a reflection on historical colour: not simply a testimony to the past, but a lens through which to reconsider the relationship between space, light, material and perception.
The transition evoked in the title, “from noise to the architecture of silence”, thus becomes a design metaphor: moving towards a chromatic presence that does accompane and define the spaces, without overwhelming it, yet to make it recognisable.
Contributing to the discussion were Andrea Borgogni of AMDL CIRCLE, the studio founded by Michele De Lucchi, Luca Lazzerotti, Partner at Piuarch Studio, and Marcello Ziliani, each one sharing different perspectives and sensitiveness to the relationship between colour, space and design.
The evening ended with an outdoor light dinner, offering an informal opportunity to continue the conversations and share ideas that emerged during the event.
It is a given fact that the culture of design also grows through the sharing of ideas and the opportunity to look at what we know from a new perspective.
And the conversation about colour continues.
