Three top honors for Typo, Icon, and Foil celebrate Mara’s innovative vision and her commitment to experimentation, always focused on exploring new forms and functions to enhance contemporary living.
The German Design Award recognizes Mara’s excellence

What conquered the jury is “the successful combination of wood and metal, functional and aesthetically pleasing“. Mara and AMDL Circle, the studio founded by architect Michele De Lucchi, have in fact reinterpreted the traditional office swivel chairs through a contemporary appeal, leveraging the company’s expertise in metal processing.
The structure is characterized by a series of draperies, the result of bending the square steel tube along the diagonal that connects the wooden seat and backrest elements. This derives “a timeless elegance, an original reinterpretation of classic design”. Even more so in the special Rainbow Limited Edition, made with Alpi wood designed by Konstantin Grcic.
From this version presented at the German Design Award, several natural evolutions have already been born, the upholstered version, the wooden or upholstered stool and an expanded range of bases also available for outdoor use.
“It captivates with its minimalist aesthetics and functional clarity.”

This is how the jury described the award to Foil. Christophe Pillet has designed a table/desk that redefines the archetype of the contemporary metal table. The thicknesses are reduced to a minimum, the addition of a perimeter band is functional to cleverly hide mechanisms and accessories.
“This careful design promotes an undisturbed work environment, highlighting a clear attention to the fundamental needs of the office“.
In addition to the fixed version and the model with the Mara integrated mechanisms (which allow the top itself to slide and reveal the cable management space below), there are the Foil Bench and Foil Workstation variants, equipped with accessories such as sound-absorbing partition panels.
“The harmonious combination of colors in the frame and upholstery creates a balanced design, ensuring comfortable seating for extended periods, both in the office and at home.”

Among the latest proposals in the wide and versatile Icon family designed by Marcello Ziliani, Icon High-Back adds even more functionality to a seat with countless facets. Icon, born as a seat for home & office in 2023, has quickly expanded into a complete collection for indoor and outdoor, intended for home and office with the same functional comfort.
Made of polypropylene, Icon High-Back shows its most evolved expression thanks to a high padded backrest and a seat cushion, giving a more sophisticated look and an even more welcoming effect.
It was precisely the combination of the robustness of the plastic material with the softness of the padding that inspired the jury to award the prize, along with its countless decorative possibilities.
